The Rotary Club of South Hilo hosted a Pau Hana Social in honor of District 5000 Governor (DG) Ted Faigle's visit to Hawaii Island on August 08, 2024 at the Hilo Yacht Club from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Assistant District Governor (ADG) Beverly Heikes accompanied him for the occasion. Attendees were treated to an assortment of light pupus and nonalcoholic beverages, and optional alcoholic beverages were available for purchase at extra cost after covering their admission.
In an address to those in attendance DG Faigle highlighted the Four Pillars of Our Action Plan: Increase our Impact, Expanding our Reach, Enhance Participant Engagement, and Ability to Adapt, presenting different strategies on how Rotary Clubs can implement each pillar, such as collaborating with other organizations, presenting people with our personal Why for Rotary when asked What Rotary is, reaching out to non-participatory Rotarians as to how they can be re-engaged, and looking at our respective projects to see what is vs. what isn't working, cutting costs, and learning from failures should they happen.
He also addressed some major initiatives that our District is undertaking to expand our reach and increasing our impact, such as a major marketing campaign dubbed the "Aloha Action Campaign" involving multi-channel raise awareness of Hawaii Rotary throughout the state involving television, print, social media, public promotion, and email marketing strategies. Other initiatives include a net increase of two members per District Club for our Rotary Year and initiatives to increase our engagement through membership retention.
The Rotary Club of South Hilo would like to express our deepest appreciation to DG Faigle and ADG Beverly Heikes, as well as the Rotarians from our own membership and those who came from our fellow Rotary Clubs in Hilo such as District Governor Elect Nancy Cabral from the Rotary Club of Hilo, and Bryan Lindsey from the Rotary Club of Hilo Bay.
