Welcome to the Rotary Club of South Hilo!

Since our charter on November 2, 1956, we've been a cornerstone of community service and fellowship, with the support of the Rotary Club of Hilo helping us embark on a remarkable journey of impact within the community.


We have been inspired by the dedication of members like Jimmy Souza, a Charter Member who was actively involved in our activities until his passing in January 2020.  His commitment to Rotary ideals continues to inspire us all.
Our signature fundraiser, the Hilo Huli, has been a tremendous success, fostering community connections and generating vital funds for our initiatives.  In response to the success of the Hilo Huli, we established the Rotary Club of South Hilo Foundation to ensure all funds raised are managed and allocated responsibly.


The funds we gather are distributed throughout the community, with our Board of Directors carefully deciding how to support various projects in alignment with our mission.  This ensures we make a meaningful difference in our community.
We remain dedicated to our core principle of "service above self," promoting community development and supporting local causes. As we honor our history and look to the future, we are committed to positively impacting the lives of many. Once again, welcome to our club!

How do I start?

Get the most out of your membership by participating in club projects and activities.

Here are some ideas:

  • Serve on a club committee where you can use your skills

  • Identify a need in your community and suggest a hands-on project to address it

  • Work with a youth service program sponsored by your club, such as  or 

  • Host a  student

  • Help organize your district’s  programs

  • Recommend a colleague or friend for membership in your club
