Celebrating the Success of the 2025 Hilo Huli Luau

The Rotary Club of South Hilo is thrilled to announce the resounding success of the annual Hilo Huli Luau, which took place on Sunday, May 4, 2025. The event was a vibrant celebration of Hawaiian culture, community spirit, and philanthropy, drawing attendees to enjoy a day filled with entertainment, delicious food, and camaraderie.

A Day to Remember

The Hilo Huli Luau, held at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, was graced with perfect weather, enhancing the joyful atmosphere. Running from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., guests were treated to a feast of traditional Hawaiian cuisine, including succulent kalua pork, an array of tantalizing pupus including tako poke and Portuguese sausage with onions, and a decadent dessert selection. The enticing aroma of the food wafted through the air, inviting everyone to indulge in the culinary delights.

The event showcased the rich heritage of Hawaii through mesmerizing hula performances from Hālau Ke ʻOlu Makani O Mauna Loa, and live music from Mark Yamanaka, Darlene Ahuna, Ben Kaili, and Brandon & Emma Nakano. Attendees were captivated by the graceful movements of the hula dancers and the enchanting melodies that echoed throughout the day.

Community Impact

Beyond the festivities, the Hilo Huli Luau served a greater purpose—supporting the community. Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the life-changing efforts of nonprofit organizations on the East side of Hawaii Island.
